Little Attends his First Live Football Game!
Every so often through the generous donations of our patrons, partners, and supporters, CBSBB gets the opportunity to set up our matches with once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Recently, with the donation of Jets vs Broncos Coaches Club tickets by our Board Member, Brad Robins, one of our Littles saw his first live football game! Tom (Big) & Bob Marley (Little) feasted at the Coaches Club eatery and had seats close enough to hear discussions of various plays by coaching staff and catch the athletes call out plays in person!
Matched for 2+ years, Tom & Bob Marley share a strong bond and a love of sports. The combination of Tom’s “cool, down to earth, and never boring” attitude (according to his Little) with Bob Marley’s enthusiasm and appreciation for his Big Brother made this Jets game a memory they will always cherish.
We welcome CBSBB supporters to contribute to the fulfillment and joy of our mentoring matches. These opportunities can be inimitable markers of growth in the building of our mentoring relationships and hope that CBSBB continues to provide the wealth of experiences and memories for our Bigs & Littles. If you would like to donate tickets, discounts, etc. for CBSBB mentoring matches, please contact Deidre Mahon at email@example.com. Thank you!
A New Adventure
On Saturday, September 20th, CBSBB held its third annual Outdoor Adventure Trip. A bus full of matches traveled to the Princeton-Blairstown Center (PBC) in Blairstown, New Jersey – Princeton University’s outdoor education campus located in the natural beauty of the Delaware Water Gap – where they participated in team building activities, including canoeing, high and low ropes courses, nature walks, and others. The activities were designed by the PBC team to strengthen our mentoring matches, foster personal growth, and overall to build community amongst CBSBB’s matches. We look forward to continuing our relationship with PBC with more trips in the future!

Volunteer Appreciation Party
On September 30, 2014, CBSBB celebrated its volunteers (Bigs, volunteers, and Board Members) at the fabulous Hotel Sixty LES. The night was a huge success filled with mingling, great food, lots of laughs, and very much deserved awards. Shout outs were given to the following awardees for their outstanding commitment to CBSBB and their match relationship: Reid Whiting, Crystal Bravate, Avery Miller, Dana Willenborg, Joy Schwartz, Jeffrey Maldonado, & Brigid Lang.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our volunteers and board members – whether or not you were able to attend our wonderful event. We thank you for your continual support because without you, we would not be able to effectively fulfill our mission to empower and improve the lives of our youth. You are appreciated!
Parents with a Mission (PWAM), a group of parent leaders from the CBSBB community, were hard at work over the summer developing a comprehensive program to support their fellow CBSBB parents and try to make the most difficult job around a little bit easier. Taking feedback they gathered from parents at a Meet & Greet in the Spring, PWAM identified key themes and, next thing we knew, “Building Successful Families” was born. The parent workshops, which will also mostly be led by PWAM leaders, will begin in November and run approximately every other month through May. They will feature such topics as reducing stress, having fun together as a family, parenting self-care, parenting styles, listening to and getting to know your child, as well as family health. The series will culminate in families developing a vision for how they see themselves moving forward.
